Why see Kinky Boots?

These boots are made for dancing!

Price and Sons spent the last century making a range of shoes for men, and now they're spending this century making shoes for a range of men! Based on a true story, Kinky Boots is the uplifting story of unlikely friendship, finding your passion, overcoming prejudice and recognising that underneath it all, we're not so different.

Bursting onto Broadway in 2013, sweeping the Tonys, (13 nominations, 6 wins including best musical) and introducing audiences to the irresistibly heart-warming tale of a little factory that takes on an unusual commission, with a sassy rock, funk and classic Broadway inspired score by Cyndi Lauper. Be liberated by this emotional and upbeat show that brings the all the glitz and glamour you need for a fantastic night out at the theater!

What is Kinky Boots about?

Set in the provincial Northampton, England, London-bound Charlie Price is surprised to suddenly inherit his beloved father's shoe factory and even more surprised to find that handmade men's dress shoes are no longer quite as in vogue as they used to be. Facing closure, a dejected Charlie chances upon Lola, the charismatic, brassy and fabulous drag queen and finds himself forming an unlikely business partnership, creating custom shoes for drag queens, which will change their lives forever...

Did you know?

Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 film starring Joel Edgerton and Chiwetel Ejiofor but that in turn was based on the true story of family run British shoe factory W.J. Brooks Ltd that fought to save their business by creating fetish footwear for men under the name 'Divine Footwear'.

Entertaining Musical: Kinky Boots

My friends and I just planned a girl's night out in Buffalo; AND, decided to attend the musical 'KINKY BOOTS' at the beautiful, newly remodeled Shea's 710 theatre, on Main Street, Buffalo, NY. What AN enjoyable, entertaining evening this was! Our evening's highlight was definitely - experiencing this humorous, uplifting musical performance by the 'KINKY BOOTS' cast members. From their amazing talent, wardrobe and props TO their message of: acceptance, understanding, getting along, being yourself, finding your passion, working together and creating loving friendships. What an emotional, exhilarating, feel-good musical performance! WOW!!! Thank-you Shea's for bringing this production to BUFFALO for all of us to experience ! ... Read more

An enjoyable experience

Here goes - a very honest opinion from someone who loves the spectacular of musicals. The first quarter of the show sent me to sleep. Why? Because, being British, I was appalled at the terrible attempts to speak with English accents. No-one got it right and I was straining to understand what was being said. The sets were too dark and what with not hearing the words, it was enough to send me to snoozeville. HOWEVER... it all picked up during the scene when Simon enters wearing men's clothing and sings a duet with Charlie. From then on, my attention was caught and I enjoyed the rest of the show. Charlie's mike went out at one point and his singing sounded almost canned (his voice sounded hollow). Apart from this, the cast did an excellent job, especially the dancers and we all had a rip roaring time. Producers please take note from one who is British. It is NOT necessary to have actors speak in an accent they are not familiar with. It does not add to the production. If they had all spoken with their true voices, no-one would have cared and we would have all understood the words. Our seats upstairs were amazing. I think everyone had a great view. I would not take children to see this as I do not believe they would understand anything in it. ... Read more
